picking blueberries, then and now

Just about two years ago I started keeping a digital photo album of Olive's adventures (Jon has the digital album from 0-2). The first pictures in my album are from a fabulous and fun blueberry picking date with Olive and Marina at Owls Head. Two years later, I now have pictures from another blueberry picking date - this time with Olive and Sasha. These pictures remind me of how much we miss Marina (and Haven and Jan and Dorine) and how lucky we are to have so many new friends like Sasha.

the future is NOW...

Olive now asks for some "computer time" before bed.

Aaah...I just spent three very productive and satisfying days alone in the house. It was my first time alone in the house since Olive was born. Jon and Olive took a trip to Nonna and Pop's house to help Uncle Matt celebrate the completion of his graduate studies. Even though my time alone was not spent relaxing in the traditional sense, it was relaxing for me to work at my own pace, uninterupted. I did a lot of cleaning - got rid of a ton of Olive's old books, toys and clothes. And, I did a lot of cooking - filled the freezer with 8 quarts of pesto, 4 trays of chicken pot pie, 2 lasagnas, 8 tamales, and 4 guarts of chicken soup - all while listening to music and/or the Red Sox.

It warms my heart to hear other people tell me stories about Olive that demonstrate that she really DOES listen to the things her mother tries to teach her!

This story came from Sara:

Yesterday Olive and Sara were at home and the TV was on. There was a commercial for some kind of razor that had soap built into it. After the commercial was over, they had this conversation:
Olive: "Sara, do you want that?"
Sara: "No."
Olive: "But it cuts EVERY hair."
Sara: "Yeah, well, I don't really need it."
Olive: "Oh, you're not going to fall for that are you? It's probably junk and it will just fall apart. Right?"
Sara: "That's right, Olive."
